About The Role

Part-Time Maths Teacher (Saturdays, School Term Time Only)

The School for Young People, also known as Star Mandarin School, at Confucius Institute, the University of Sheffield, is looking for enthusiastic Maths Teachers to join our Saturday teaching team. Opportunities are available at both Primary and Secondary levels.

No formal teaching qualification is required. Full training and support will be provided.

Role Details

  • Location: Bartolome House, School of Law, Winter Street, Sheffield S3 7ND
  • Hours: 2–4 hours per week, Saturdays during school term time
  • Contract Period: 5 September 2026 – 11 July 2027
  • Pay: University Grade 6.1

Please note: this role follows school term dates rather than University semester dates. Teaching takes place on Saturdays during school term time from early September to mid-July, offering regular, predictable work throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons using provided study programmes
  • Support students' learning and academic progress
  • Prepare lesson materials and mark homework and tests
  • Maintain attendance records and classroom standards
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Maths knowledge and understanding of the UK curriculum
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and professional approach
  • Ability to engage and motivate young learners

Requirements

  • Attend induction, safeguarding training and teacher training
  • Successfully complete an Enhanced DBS check
