About The Role

 
Charpy Impact Tester - Assembly Operative
 
Background to the role
A Charpy Impact Test is a simple desktop test that demonstrate the material properties of an item, and is often used for outreach activities in schools. The CMBE Facilities team are preparing the components for 60 Charpy Impact Testers to be given to local schools at an event on 19th June - and we need someone to use an allen key to put each Charpy Impact Tester together from it's component parts. Each Charpy Impact Tester will take 20-30 minutes to assemble, and we have 60 Charpy Impact Testers requiring assembly before 18th June.
 
Job Specification
  • You can work at any time within normal University working hours (9am - 5pm Monday - Friday) that suits your timetable.
  • You will not be accompanied in the carrying out the work, hence you need to be able to demonstrate reliability and Health & Safety awareness. We will of course show you how to assemble a Tester - and then you will work independantly to assemble the rest of the units.
  • You will need to access the Quarrell Mezzanine in CMBE - hence you should mention if you have already have access to this area of CMBE School in your application. Safety training to gain access to Quarrell Mezzanine will be given if required. 
Key requirements of the role.
  • relevant qualifications: none required
  •  previous experience - this is a manual task, hence  you should be happy to work with your hands.
  • personality traits/soft skills - you are happy to work alone with a set task, meeting a required standard of work without supervision.
