About The Role

Department: School of Allied Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery
Programme: MPharm (Year 1)

We are seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support Year 1 MPharm Science of Pharmacy practical classes, with a focus on granulation, tableting, tablet characterisation and enzymatic degradation. The post holder will support laboratory teaching, student learning, and safe laboratory practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support practical classes in:
    • granulation
    • Tablet compression
    • Tablet characterisation (e.g. hardness, friability, disintegration, dissolution)
    • Enzymatic degradation of paracetamol.
  • Demonstrate laboratory techniques and support students during sessions.
  • Support laboratory preparation and compliance with health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and professional learning environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Pharmacy degree (MPharm or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutics, particularly solid dosage forms.
  • Ability to explain practical concepts clearly to first-year undergraduates.
  • Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of laboratory health and safety requirements.
  • Work as a proactive team member for the efficient and smooth running of practical session

Desirable:

  • Previous teaching, demonstrating, or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting undergraduate laboratory classes.
  • Experience of assessment or marking.
 
Pay Rate: £17.58 per hour + holiday pay
Duration: 28/04/2026 - 15/05/2026
Hours: 23 hours in total
