About The Role

The School of Education (University of Sheffield) is committed to providing a high quality education offer which is student centred and inclusive of appropriate learning environments from foundation through to doctorate level.

The ‘Students as Partners’ initiative, which has run in the School for several academic years, provides students with a paid work opportunity to design, implement, and take ownership of a short-term, small-scale project which further contributes to the School of Education’s key priorities in learning, teaching, and student experience.

We are looking to appoint six students from across Lifelong Learning, Sheffield Methods Institute and Education programmes to work in collaboration with the Education Leadership Team.

As a Student Partner, you will spend 100 hours working on a student co-led project in one of the three following work areas:
Employability - to work with Dr Ryan Bramley, School Student Experience Lead, to design and run a project that explores how staff and student engagement with the mySkills platform and/or work-related learning experiences can be further improved in order to better prepare Sheffield graduates in the School of Education for the local and global career market.
Student Voice and TellUS - to work with Dr Ryan Bramley, School Student Experience Lead, to design and run a project that considers how student engagement levels with Student Voice initiatives (i.e. TellUS and/or Academic Reps) can be enhanced; and/or exploring how School of Education staff can more effectively close the feedback loop - ensuring that students understand how their feedback is being used to influence change in the School.
Student Recruitment - to work with Dr Camilla Priede, School Student Recruitment Lead, to design and run an initiative that directly supports the student recruitment and outreach ambitions of the School of Education. This could involve engagement with current students and/or School alumni, and/or working towards one of the key institutional priorities identified in our current Access and Participation Plan.

You will be responsible for the effective design, delivery and review of a project in one of these work areas, and will be supported by members of the School’s Education Leadership Team to achieve these aims.

We hope that the ‘Students as Partners’ group will be representative of the wide range of programmes offered within the School, and different experiences, including full-time, part-time, and distance learners, international students and home students, and students from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds. If you'd like the opportunity to be part of a Students as Partners project, and grow your skill set in areas such as communication, management, and teamwork, then we would love to hear from you.
