About The Role

Researchers across the UK have to consider the 'impact' their research has outside academia, and the benefits it could bring to our society. The University helps researchers to both optimise and capture this impact with the aid of student interns.

The role is working alongside the Faculty Impact Manager and researchers from the Faculty of Health, as well as colleagues within the Research, Partnerships and Innovation department to help create and evidence impact from university research. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Help to conduct surveys/interviews with NHS Trusts and other clinical bodies regarding treatments.
  • Conduct surveys/interviews with Speech Language Therapists.
  • Help to shape narratives of the research impact.

Other tasks may include:

  • Conducting background research online on  a variety of different subjects
  • Data entry and analysis
  • Survey creation and analysis
  • Helping create online and written content aimed at UoS staff and students, and external partners

Key skills and experience required for this role: 

  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection skills 
  • Excellent language and literacy skills
  • The ability to write for a professional audience
  • Highly motivated and self-reliant
  • Good MS Office and Google workspace skills
  • Research and evidence gathering skills 
  • The ability to interpret and summarise information
 
  • Proactive in seeking guidance or clarification

  • Highly organised to plan and complete work within the time available
  • The ability to pay close attention to detail
  • The ability to take direction 
  • A professional manner for working alongside other interns, UoS staff, and external partners
  • Experience with health related policy (desirable)
  •  Experience in having worked in a clinical setting (desirable
  •  Knowledge of Health Technology Assessment (desirable)
  • Experience or knowledge on Aphasia and Stroke Rehabilitation (desirable)
  • Interviewing and testimonial collection experience (desirable)
PLEASE NOTE:

This position is suitable for postgraduate students, studying at either Master’s or PhD level.
