About The Role

Cover Teacher for Mandarin, Maths or Art

The Star Mandarin School at the Confucius Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Cover Teacher to support weekend classes in Mandarin, Mathematics, and Art. The successful candidate will step in to deliver engaging lessons when regular teaching staff are unavailable, ensuring continuity of high-quality learning for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons in Mandarin, Maths, and Art to school students.
  • Ensure continuity of learning by following existing lesson plans, while adapting creatively to meet students needs.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that cater for students’ learning and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and encourage student progress, providing constructive feedback where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the Star Mandarin School team and follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching children in one or more of the following subjects: Mandarin, Maths, or Art.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners of varying ages and abilities.
  • Flexibility and reliability to provide cover at weekends during school term times. 
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting children’s learning and creativity.

Teaching experience and experience working with children are desirable. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not required.
