About The Role

Researchers at the University of Sheffield were commissioned by the Department of Health and

Social Care to develop an outcome measure to assess recovery for adults aged 16 and over

experiencing mental health difficulties. The outcome measure is called Recovering Quality of Life,

or ReQoL for short. There are two versions of the ReQoL: ReQoL-20, and a shorter measure, ReQOL-10.

Since its launch in 2018, the use of ReQoL has expanded both nationally and internationally. ReQoL-10

has been recommended for use in all NHS-commissioned community mental health services for adults

and older adults with serious mental illnesses, including voluntary, community, and social enterprise services.

To inform the development of an Impact Case Study arising from this work, the successful candidate will help

assess the impact that the ReQoL measures have had in policy, routine practice, and research.

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct a search of peer-reviewed literature, policy documents, and grey literature to identify where
  • and how the ReQoL measures are being used.
  • Liaise with the ReQoL distributors about the best way to measure the impact of the ReQoL measures,
  • for example designing a survey to be administered electronically to users of the ReQoL.
  • Follow up on conversations with key stakeholders to directly identify and
  • document their experience of the impact of the new measures.
  • Other impact evidencing duties as determined by the project leads.
Key skills and attributes required:
  • Motivated and self-reliant, but ability to follow instructions and
  • be proactive in seeking guidance and clarification when required.
  • Highly organised.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • The ability to interpret and summarise large amounts of complex information.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • A background in or familiarity with healthcare research would be advantageous.
