About The Role

Health Service Registration is an important step of University Registration, and during Intro Week the University Health Service (UHS) registers upwards of 7000 patients. UHS offers full GP services and a number of additional services to all students at the University of Sheffield living in the city and their dependents.
We are looking to recruit a Chinese Translator to assist in the medical registration of new international patients before and during Intro Week.
• Provide support and guidance to international students completing their online registration in Chinese and English
• Face-to-face contact with patients, providing information on UHS and the registration process. What a student can expect from UHS as a GP service Guiding students on where to go next in the registration process and directing them between main University registration and UHS registration
• Offer general assistance to students registering with UHS as well as to the Practice team
• Abiding by the UHS confidentiality policy in all aspects of work and working to agreed protocols
• Keep your work area clean and tidy    
Person Specification
• Chinese and English communication skills
• Previous experience of working in a customer service environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent customer service skills, responding effectively and efficiently to student enquiries
• Experience of working with confidential information and dealing with this in a sensitive manner
• Understand the importance of data protection and patient confidentiality
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment and retain information
• Organisational skills to ensure the registration event runs effectively and efficiently
 
Pay: £12.60 per hour plus holiday entitlement 
Hours: Part time
