About The Role

The University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) are looking for an enthusiastic Receptionist to join the team. As a receptionist, you will meet and greet visitors and customers, providing a professional and efficient reception service at the Future Energy Factory.


You will deal with a range of enquiries by email, telephone and in person, as well as providing a general administration support service for the day-to-day operation of the business. This may include data input, booking travel, photocopying, preparing documents and assisting with events.


For this role, you will need experience of working in a customer-facing role and it is very important that you are able to communicate effectively. You will also need to have excellent organisational skills in order to maintain a high degree of accuracy in a busy environment.



Main duties and responsibilities


  • Provide a customer focused, high quality reception service, dealing with a range of enquiries and visitors to the department, ensuring that AMRC staff are notified in a timely fashion of the arrival of their guest.

  • Receive and distribute incoming mail, log and distribute all incoming deliveries using the Goods Receipts Notification system, and ensure external parcels are collected on time for external distribution

  • Maintain and organise the reception area.

  • Ensure contractors and visitors are given relevant H&S information.

  • Ensure visitor details are logged accurately in the AMRC Visitor Management system.

  • Provide administration support to the support functions team.

  • Assist in the organisation of events.

  • Provide occasional cover for the Customer Service Assistant and Admin teams.

  • Book meeting rooms and monitor the calendars daily

  • Deal with telephone, email and other enquiries.

  • Prioritise own workload, allowing for unplanned activities as there may be conflicting priorities.

  • Access, prepare, store and retrieve electronic documentation.

  • Maintain stationery supplies ordering when necessary, via the SAP system.

  • Manage workload and work to strict deadlines without the need for supervision.

  • Support and foster an inclusive One AMRC culture which promotes excellence through diversity.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships across the University, encouraging the development of effective collaborative partnership working.
